Care and Harvest

✂️ Pruning: Check the roots monthly and trimming any that are brown or extending past the yPod. To encourage new flower bud development, remove dead flower heads, called deadheading.

🔎 Plant health: Aphids are a common pest, but you can use our prevention and treatment tricks to keep pests at bay!

🌱Harvesting: Enjoy your flowers anywhere in your home “cut-free” by using the Gardyn Vase! Alternatively, to use as a cut flower, snip the stems at a 45° angle just above a leaf node at the desired height. Leave ⅓ of the plant at a time to let it continue growing and enjoy multiple waves of blooms throughout the plant’s life.

Taste and Use

Snapdragon is a great cutting variety for bouquets, or to display in the Gardyn Vase. While the flowers don’t have much flavor, they are edible and can be used as an elegant garnish.

Origin

Snapdragons are believed to be native to the Mediterranean region and southern Europe. While originally only white or purple, today they come in a wide range of colors and sizes, from 6 inches to as tall as 4 feet. The botanical name for Snapdragon is Antirrhinum majus. In Greek, the word anti means "like" while rrhinum means "snout", which aligns perfectly with the flower’s appearance that resembles the jaws and snout of a dragon.
