Thrips are a common pest, but you can use our prevention and treatment tricks to keep pests at bay!

For ongoing harvest, let the scapes (the name for their all-in-one leaf) grow at least 4 inches tall before cutting them down to 1-2 inches above the base. The flowers are edible, too! Store Chives loosely wrapped in a paper towel in the veggie drawer of your refrigerator.

Chives pair well with seafood, and they are great as a garnish for cream soups, eggs, and potato or macaroni salad. Chive flowers are also edible and can be used as a garnish or to make your own infused vinegar.
Origin

This member of the onion family is native to Asia and Europe. The botanical name comes from a Greek word meaning “reed-like leek”.
