Care & Harvest

🌱 Germination: Bunching Onions are slow to germinate and prefer temperatures around 65-70°F to germinate well. Be patient, as it can take 21+ days to see sprouts!

✂️ Pruning: Check the roots monthly and trim any that are brown or extending past the yPod

🌿 Harvest: To harvest continuously, let them grow at least 6-8 inches tall before cutting them down to ~2 inches above the base. The harvested stalks are round and hollow, and they will regrow in 1-2 weeks.

Quick Facts

Bunching onions are closely planted, immature, non-bulbing onions and go by a variety of names depending on the region. Common names include green onions, spring onions, scallions, and Welsh onions.

These Bunching Onions have a deep purple-red color at the base and offer a similar flavor to their bulbing cousins. A tablespoon of Bunching Onions provides about 10% of your daily vitamin A and K needs.

Chopped Bunching Onions make an excellent garnish and will add flavor to any meal including soups, salads, omelets, stir-fries, appetizers, and much more.
